Life has certainly taken a few detours for me. I'm sure that all of the old friends I had aren't even checking on this anymore. I certainly have lost contact with so many of my old cyber mom-friends. Shame on me. If any of them happens to read this, please let me know. I would love to find out whats been happening to everyone. My son Ross is growing and almost as tall as I am. Very strange to have your 13 year old son look you in the eye, especially since I am 5'11".Donnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17986549643619750862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2757927.post-858164232002-12-10T18:55:00.000-08:002002-12-10T18:55:38.056-08:00Holy cow, its been a long time since I was here! I must be the most disorganized person alive. I just can't seem to get everything done that I need to get done anymore. Time has really snuck up on me this year. I think this is the first year since Ross has been born that I don't have a single Christmas decoration up yet. I have presents bought but not a thing wrapped. I haven't sent any Christmas cards either. I will try to get them done, maybe they will go out after the first of the year? Oh well, guess it will all work out, whether or not I get them done before or after.

Ross is growing like a weed. I can't keep clothes that fit the child. He is wearing size 10 slim pants, and I think I need to move up to 12's. He started off the school year wearing size 4 1/2 sized shoes, and now is in a size 6! He is just loving 1st grade. He has a terrific teacher and is pretty busy with homework, tiger cubs and piano lessons.

We went to Brownsville for our Thanksgiving and really had a great time. We went to the zoo, and then on another day we went deep sea fishing. My brother in law caught a pretty big shark, and we all caught red snapper. That was so much fun! I would love to do that again. Ross even drove the boat some, he kept asking about all the gauges, and the fish finders, etc. Then on another day we went across the border and had a tour of Matamoras, Mexico, and that was an eye opening experience too. Just, overall a really nice time.
Donnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17986549643619750862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2757927.post-807309502002-08-26T08:23:00.000-07:002002-08-26T08:23:19.060-07:00Wow, been a while since I was here. This is the first time I have turned my computer on in several weeks. This summer has just flown by. I don't know where it went, but I guess we had fun passing the time. Ross has grown so much this summer, he lost two teeth this week, making a total of 8 teeth he has lost and is only 6 years old. He has been able to ski around the lake all by himself and is quite proud of himself too. He can get up on the kneeboard all by himself now too. But with this new found independance, comes alot of stubbornness. He thinks he knows everything and can tell us what to do and how to do it. Oh, it can be really trying around here at times. He is loving being in the first grade. I like his teacher and he has a good group of kids in his class.

I now have braces. I have had a crooked tooth all my life and when I couldn't think of anything that I truly wanted for my birthday last month, I mentioned to my mother-in-law that I had wished I had braces when I was younger. So she picked up the phone and called and made an appointment for me to see the orthodontist right then and there. I have had them for a month now and its not too bad. Only 23 more months to go......Why did I do this?? I am going to be 40 next year, this is a waste of money. I have lived with it for half my life. Donnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17986549643619750862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2757927.post-768646572002-05-22T18:56:00.000-07:002002-05-22T18:56:40.523-07:00Well I did get sappy at Ross's graduation. Can't help it, he is my baby, my life. He did so well saying his parts, he wasn't nervous, he even took time to adjust the microphone and just looked so casual up there, cracked me up through my tears.

Now, my nieces recital, I cried also. It was like I had a video of her first dance that she was in while in kindergarten, playing in my head. I was seeing the past and the present at the same time, and marveling at how much she has accomplished. She also graduated from high school on Saturday and I was able to give her diploma to her. What a joy and an honor that was. I was praying that no one could tell I had tears streaming down my face when I gave it to her. I was doing ok and wasn't even sappy, but when the principal handed me her diploma and I saw her name on there, I was flooded with emotions. Just so happy that she has passed this milestone in her life, happy that she is going to college and going to experience new things, new places, and sad that I am not going to see her cute smiling face nearly as often as I would like too.

We went out to dinner tonight and an older couple, whose grandson graduated with Cassie and has been best friends with Cassie, since they were toddlers, told us how cute they thought Cassie was. I told them yes, she really is, but what makes her more so in my book, is she is beautiful inside. They agreed.....good thing too! haha Donnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17986549643619750862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2757927.post-766023602002-05-15T19:36:00.000-07:002002-05-15T19:36:22.376-07:00Well tomorrow is Ross's graduation. I find myself thinking back to my pregnancy and what I thought this day would be like. I just knew that I would be a sappy mess, but right now I am a-ok with it. I am just so proud of him. After the problems he had right after he was born, not knowing whether or not he was going to have some mental or physical problems resulting from the complications of his birth, I am just so happy that he here and I am able to go to his graduation. All the other things become blurry..... Then on Friday, my niece has her final ballet recital, and I have been reminicsing about the hundreds of times I drove her to her dance class and the wonderful talks we had. I enjoyed that time immensely. In my heart, I know that I was meant to be available to spend that time with her and her sister after their mother divorced my bil and left the girls with him. I know thats why we didn't have Ross until the girls were old enough to handle things at home and by the time I did have Ross, my bil had remarried. I guess its just my time to enjoy my memories of years gone by. Enjoy them I will!

I am going to throw a toy in the dumpster and hope Ross doesn't ask about it. He was given two Jurassic dinasours for his birthday and they screach and roar when you push on the top of them, but all of a sudden they have started doing it all on their own. Its driving me nuts. Unless I find a battery on the thing that I can take out, its dumpster time for the dinos.

Cellular phones are such a pain. We are paying about $300 a month for 7 phones. Crazy, huh? As much as Marvin loathes his, he is lost without it. He doesn't talk long, but he needs it for our business. I have one, mostly to call him, but it is nice when I have to go out of town. I am trying to see if we can get a better deal with another company, I wish I could combine the best of both companies into a personalized plan for us. Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. I don't know if we will change plans or not, but all with everything I have read about and everything the different companies have told me have me on information overload. Donnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17986549643619750862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2757927.post-764988022002-05-13T08:56:00.000-07:002002-05-13T08:56:21.966-07:00I am so tired today. Yesterday was a busy busy day. Ross made a couple of really neat presents for me at school. It was progressive supper and baccalaurete (sp?) for the seniors who are graduating next Saturday. I had told my sil that I would help make ice cream for the progressive supper. Well we figured that with 70+ seniors and a few parents that we needed quite a few freezers of ice cream. I gathered up all of mine and my mil had several and we borrowed a couple and ended up making 11 freezers of ice cream. Wouldn't you know it though most of the kids took off after the hay ride brought them back to my sil's house. So we have all of this ice cream left over. ugh. I spent alllllll afternoon yesterday mixing up all 11 freezers. I would get all the stuff mixed up and my mil and fil would put the ice and salt in to start it freezing. Once I finished mixing up the last batch I helped with the ice and salt too. We made 2 freezers of strawberry ice cream, 2 vanilla, 1 chocolate chip, 1 mint chocolate chip, 1 rocky road, 1 banana nut, 1 chocolate, and 1 butterfinger. The worst part is I am so dang tired, I am having a hard time getting myself going. I have a school board meeting this evening too. Ross has baseball practice too. This is his last week as a kindergartener. His graduation program is on Thursday. Things hopefully will slow down after this week..........*crossing fingers*Donnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17986549643619750862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2757927.post-762597192002-05-07T05:52:00.000-07:002002-05-07T05:52:58.293-07:00Its teacher appreciation week and the PTO has decorated some jars and given them to all the teachers for flowers. Hopefully the kids will remember and bring their teachers a flower. The idea is that if every child will bring their teacher one flower the teacher will have a nice arrangement. Hope it works! I bought some extra flowers and am going to go to the school and pass them out to the kiddos that didn't bring them.

Tomorrow we are going to make some desserts and take to the teachers lounge. Gosh, the morning has slipped away from me, time to get Ross up for school. Later!Donnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17986549643619750862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2757927.post-762248312002-05-06T10:00:00.000-07:002002-05-06T10:00:28.843-07:00Today I am watching my nephew, who is 20 months old. He is such a busy body, he is into everything. I was fortunate with Ross, he really learned and listened when we told him no. Hunter is a different story tho. He was messing with a cord at my mil's house and trying to plug something into it. It shocked him, but did he learn not to mess with it? No, not 20 minutes later he was back trying it again. I know that Hunter has gotten into his mothers pills and we even spent 10 hours at the emergency room because he actually got a bottle opened and had a couple of pills in his mouth. He won't leave pill bottles alone, and has gotten in trouble for getting them, but it doesn't stop him. I am amazed at the differences in Ross and Hunter. I realize they are different kids, its just interesting to me how different they are.

For me, I have spent every moment with Ross, he has yet to this day had a baby sitter. He has stayed with his grandmother and my sil (Hunter's Mom), but that is it. Am I being too protective? No, I don't think so. I just believe that I had Ross, and he is my responsibility not my mil's, not a babysitter. I know there will be times that I will need to have a baby sitter, and it wouldn't bother me now because Ross is a good kid and listens to others pretty well (just not me). I am not the type of parent to drop him off at ball practice and leave. I stay there and watch and help out if I can, but I just can't leave him. Maybe it is my problem, because Ross doesn't seem to mind if he has to do things himself. He doesn't freak out if I don't make it to a field trip at school, I do. I just am not ready for him to grow up so dang fast.

Well, Hunter has found the toilet and managed to sling water all over the place with the toilet brush. Oh my oh my. Good thing he is such a cutie!! His mom just came to pick him up. I find myself thanking my lucky stars that Ross was the type of child he was.

Donnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17986549643619750862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2757927.post-761709582002-05-04T19:36:00.000-07:002002-05-04T19:36:06.660-07:00We measured Ross the other day at my mil's house, and since March 1st, he has grown a whole inch, in two months!! My gosh what am I going to do with this boy? He is growing soooooo fast. We just finished with a baseball game, they are so cute in pee wee league. I am so proud of the whole team, they all have made such progress in the few weeks they have been playing. The first couple of practices, I wasn't sure they would ever make it to this point, but they are really doing well. They haven't won a game, but they sure try hard and I just swell with pride watching them. Every game now I see huge improvement over the last game, thats what its all about, and they have smiles on their faces. Gotta love that.

Today wasn't a good day on the farm front. Seems like the two way radio was humming with problems every time I turned around. We have one in the kitchen so if they need to get ahold of someone I can relay messages.

My step dad finally goes in for the repair of the aneurism on the 21st, then the other operation will be done a couple of days after that. I pray that it goes well.

This next week is filled to the brim with appointments, ball practices, board meetings, teacher appreciation week, so much stuff I hope we all live. haha Donnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17986549643619750862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2757927.post-759661342002-04-29T09:22:00.000-07:002002-04-29T09:22:52.336-07:00I have blisters on my hands from trying to dig up these dang poplar trees that keep growing in the yard. My mil had planted a couple of them on the outside of the yard, who knows how many years ago, but now they have decided to send out roots and little trees all over our back yard. Probably at least 150 or so, its driving me nuts. Plus the whole yard has these roots under the grass so its near impossible to dig the things up. My yard now looks like a pack of dogs decided to bury a whole fossil of a dinasour.

Marvin has been soooooooo busy, he hasn't had time to do anything else but work. I wish there was something else I could do to help him out, but most of the time I feel like I am bothering him or in the way.

Last Friday I had a meeting with Ross's teacher, the occupational therapist that works with him and the special education director of the elementary school. It was a good meeting. It was to discuss Ross and whether or not he needs to continue with his OT. I had already spoken to the OT and to his teacher and we agreed that it would be best for him to continue with it. It is sooo wonderful to live in a small town and have your child go to a small school, because they all know Ross and can handle his personality. He isn't the easiest child to deal with, but most of the time he is the most difficult with me. He listens to others pretty well and do what they tell him to do. That seems to be his biggest hurdle, he doesn't like being told what to do, now if it is his idea, then he is ok with it, but when you tell him something, oh my, you never know what kind of reaction you are going to get. If he is in a good mood and everything is going his way, then you might get a positive response, but if he is in "that" frame of mind, be ready for battle. There are days that I just struggle to make it through the day without banishing him to his room until he is 18. Other days like yesterday, he crawled up in my lap and didn't want to move. He didn't even want me to go and take his Daddy some lunch, he threw a fit because he wanted me to stay in the recliner with him.

Going back to the meeting, it was really quite a surprise when they mentioned that next year they will probably recommend him for the gifted program. The teacher said it was hard teaching someone whose IQ was higher than your own. I was really surprised. I know he is fairly smart, but that remark kinda threw me. Maybe thats why he is so hard to deal with and so stubborn, he has a very strong will and I guess thats why he wants things his way? I don't know. The next 12 years are going to be challenging to say the least, but I am excited to see Ross grow, mentally and physically. Donnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17986549643619750862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2757927.post-758169592002-04-25T11:34:00.000-07:002002-04-25T11:34:19.916-07:00We are having the freakiest weather. Yesterday it was in the 90's, and today its barely into the 60's, cloudy, drizzly. Its a nice change! Today I helped in the classroom, they made green eggs and ham. Guess which book they read?? Ross has a baseball game tonight, I think they are going to need extra clothes! I made my run out to the field to deliver the drinks and lunches to the chopper drivers, now I need to check on an air conditioner condenser to see if it has been repaired. I have piles of laundry that need to be folded, I am trying to figure out how to fold things while I am driving but just haven't figured it out yet, so they sit in piles. Actually I am feeling guilty sitting here because I could be folding them now. Donnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17986549643619750862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2757927.post-756865682002-04-22T07:36:00.000-07:002002-04-22T07:36:14.720-07:00I had a nice time watching and visiting with everyone at the prom. The kids were all so well dressed and behaved like ladies and gentlemen, it was a joy to watch them having a good time. My niece was beautiful, not that I am partial or anything, but she really was beautiful. We didn't stay very long, and came home around 10pm, and wouldn't you know it, at 11, my niece was chosen prom queen. I was so upset that I missed that, but was so pleased that she has a wonderful memory of her senior prom being crowned queen!! Donnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17986549643619750862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2757927.post-756235002002-04-20T10:24:00.000-07:002002-04-20T10:24:03.486-07:00Seems like my posts have been pretty sparse lately. Just don't have time to sit down and type my thoughts out. I have been to town every day this week, some days it was twice. Today is a slower day, don't have to rush around to get Ross off to school, don't have to do payroll, and most of the places that I would have to go and pickup parts from are closed on Saturday afternoon. So it looks like all I have to do is find something to take to Marvin for lunch and then get ready for prom this evening. Being on the school board we always receive an invitation to prom, but Marvin has never been interested in going and I had pretty much blown it off this year too. A friend of mine was talking about prom and I mentioned that I had an invitation but wasn't going because Marvin didn't want to go. She said she wanted to go, so the two of us are going to get dressed up and go. I probably wouldn't go any other time, but this year is my nieces last prom and I can go and give her a hard time. Thats what Aunts are for, isn't it? hehe

Marvin received his notice from the district court saying he was excused from jury duty. (the dirty rat!) I wasn't tho. Donnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17986549643619750862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2757927.post-755558442002-04-18T12:18:00.000-07:002002-04-18T12:18:46.763-07:00Well all out bedlam is here. They started chopping full swing yesterday and the madness is setting in. I hope we all survive. It seems like we have a better grasp on everything this year, but we also have 1000 more acres of wheat to chop so that means a longer time getting it done.

I received a notice that I am going to be on jury duty, grand jury no less, and the next day Marvin received one. I don't think thats going to work. He told me to tell them that we can't get along at home, how did they think we could come to a mutual decision in a jury room. Actually, there is no way that he can serve on a jury right now, we would lose our business. Surely they will understand? I also received a notice that they want me to work the upcoming election in June too.
I don't know where time is going but its really flying by. We have been soooo busy with practices, games and other running around, I am so tired every evening. The kids haven't won a game, but by gosh they have given it their all. I am enjoying the heck out of it. Donnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17986549643619750862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2757927.post-114321572002-04-03T16:51:00.000-08:002002-04-06T08:04:55.000-08:00Whew what a week its been and its only Wednesday. We did end up going to San Antonio for a few days and we had such a good time. We didn't stop moving the whole time we were there. Sea World was fun, and Marvin and I enjoyed watching Ross taking in every thing. I actually enjoyed the layout of Sea World better than Fiesta Texas, but we enjoyed our time at both places. The weather was wonderful, it was overcast but warm. We also went to the zoo, children's museum, the Alamo, Riverwalk and a go-cart, miniature golf, bumper boat, batting cage and game place too. On the way home, we smelled something and hoped it wasn't the pickup, but it was, the air conditioner pulley. No a/c on the way home, but it wasn't too bad. I started to go to town the next day and it completely locked up and threw the belt off so I had to borrow my mil's car until the parts come in.

Still haven't heard when my step dad will be having the first of his two surgery's. I am concerned, but I know my mother is worrying enough for a small town. Thats just the way she is. We found out that he an aneurism in his head because he has lost some of his hearing and they did a CT scan to see if they could see anything wrong. Well I guess they did, not sure that is the reason he can't hear but it needs to be taken care of. He has an artery and a vein very close to the aneurism that are also fused together that need to be seperated. Hense, the two surgeries.

Ross has started his baseball practices. Oh my what a funny time! Its so wonderful to watch the kiddos try so hard to bat, or throw, or catch at this age. I am just worried about the games and the other parents yelling at their kids. That seems to take all the fun out of it for everyone. All it takes is one parent yelling at their kid or the coach or umpire and it detracts from the whole experience. I think we have a great group of parents on our team and I hope that the kids come away from the next two months with nice memories of their first year of little league. Donnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17986549643619750862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2757927.post-111127062002-03-25T14:11:00.000-08:002002-03-25T14:11:54.160-08:00Well I have made some progress, but I have a problem of knowing when to stop. I now want to defrost both upright freezers, go through every closet, drawer and cabinet and throw away what we don't use anymore. Everything really needs it. We rearranged Ross's room, and it looks soooooo cool. I need to buy some shelves for his room to put up some of his decorations, he has alot of John Deere stuff. He has JD curtains, bedspread, a tractor rug, a JD nitelight, and a JD bank. I bet you didn't know there was that much JD stuff!!

A friend whose little boy is Ross's best friend to play with called this morning and said that the baseball team was holding a clinic. I had all of 10 minutes to get Ross dressed, me dressed and makeup on and make it to the baseball field. We made it, and boy does Ross need the extra help. He is sooooo uncoordinated. I look at some of the other kids, and they are naturals. One little boy the same age as Ross, can throw it and catch like nobody's business. I guess his parents work with him alot? I never played sports, and don't have the slightest clue what to do. I can go out and throw it to him, but I don't know how to tell him to hold his glove, or throw. Alot of help I am. They even asked me to be a coach, and I knew that it wouldn't be fair to the kids for me to be the coach, because I don't know squat. How could I teach them anything when I didn't know myself?

I think we are going to go to San Antonio for a few days, during this spring break week. Marvin is giving me such grief about it tho, like the whole farm is going to just blow away while he is gone. Actually, Ross and I would probably be better off if Marvin didn't go, I know he is going to be rushing us to do things, and Ross and I would have a better time if just the two of us went. But Dad needs to learn how to enjoy family time, and darn it, he is going to!! I just wish that Ross was feeling better, he is sneezing and coughing and having a runny nose. There is so many kiddos who are sick this year, it seems to be a really bad year for viruses. If he doesn't end up feeling better, we may not go.

I picked up my ring from the jewelers, and it looks great. I am go glad that I had them put a different head on it. I feel much more secure having 6 prongs on it. The jeweler even came out when I picked it up to ask how I liked it. He said it was "one classy ring" and had a great stone. I need to get some of that cleaner that they use, it looks so shiny after they have it.

I am still working on cleaning, yup its that dirty, but what a sense of accomplishment. The one thing about living in this house tho, no matter what you do to it, it still looks like an old house, frumpy, cracks in the walls, windows that don't come anywhere close to having a good seal around them, doors that dirt clods can blow through, but what it lacks in looks, it makes up in being a home. It still brings a smile to my face knowing that this is the same house that Marvin was brought home from the hospital when he was born, and the same house that Ross was brought home from the hospital after he was born. I still want a new house built tho, this house has NO storage, none at all. I don't have anywhere to store my Christmas decorations and things I want to save. Drives me crazy!! The cabinets in the kitchen have been pulling away from the wall, I have a couple of cabinets that I have to close with a rubber band, the wood is so old the screw holes won't hold the latches.

Grrrrrr the grump in me has emerged. All the cleaning I have been doing and Ross just dumped his toy box out. Guess I need to go and clean out his toy box now, while its contents are all over the floor. Donnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17986549643619750862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2757927.post-108760332002-03-18T16:01:00.000-08:002002-03-18T16:01:17.076-08:00Ross and I have been to see the movie Ice Age twice and its only been out since Friday. It was funny, but why in the world do they always show all the funny parts on the commercials? We enjoyed it tho. Yesterday as we were coming home from the movie, I was playing with my ring (which I frequently do) and noticed that the diamond was moving around freely. YIKES!! One of the 4 prongs was broke off and I was so glad the diamond was still there. I took it in to the jewelers and they told me they were extremely surprised that the diamond wasn't gone. Its my grandmothers ring that has so much sentimental value, I feel like she is with me everytime I look at it. The diamond is a good sized one too, over 1 carat, but even if it was a tiny speck of a diamond it would still have the sentimental value to me. They jeweler said that is something about having 4 prongs holding it on, if one breaks off, a diamond can come out. I decided to have a new head put on altogether, 6 prongs, and they are going to retip all the outside diamonds on the ring guard as well. Going to cost me a couple of hundred dollars, but its worth it, to make sure I don't lose anything.
I have been on a huge cleaning spree. Lord only knows how desperately my house needs this, but it feels so good going through stuff and making it look better. I am a long way from being done, in fact I don't even have one room completed. I am pretty close to getting Ross's room the way I want it. We completely rearranged his room and moved his bed, and he has tons more room the new way. His room is long but not very wide, but now it seems more useable.

This isn't getting any cleaning done sitting here, so I am outta here! Donnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17986549643619750862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2757927.post-107736952002-03-15T12:23:00.000-08:002002-03-15T12:23:35.796-08:00I actually slept in this morning, till 8:30! That is sooooo unusual for me. Most of the time I wake up and can't roll over and go back to sleep, but this morning I did. =) Felt wonderful, who knows how long I would have slept, the phone rang twice and after talking on the phone I just had to get up.

Sometimes my husband can drive me up a tree!! He had his undies in such a wad (it was going to take an escavator to dig them out) about getting these radios mailed out to be programed. He tells me that I need to get this guys phone # and address to get them mailed out, well I did it and I asked him to get me the frequencies and information to go along with the radios. He said it doesn't have to be done right now. UGH!! He acted like I need to get it done yesterday, and now its not that important. Sheesh!

I am listening to Ross reading a book, and he is reading it and just laughing and laughing. Music to my ears, pure joy.

Uh oh, the end, and he is still laughing......., and I am still smiling........Donnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17986549643619750862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2757927.post-107061562002-03-13T13:39:00.000-08:002002-03-13T13:39:02.966-08:00Well I wasn't able to get back in and finish my blog on the 8th.

Today is a gorgeous day, Ross has shorts on and was having a blast outside. One of our neighbors, (who lives about a mile away) is putting on another door on our office. Ross was outside helping him take out nails from some of the boards, and Ross stepped on a nail and it went through his shoe into his foot. Poor baby, he ran all the way to the house with blood running out of his sandal. All he kept saying was just put some neosporin on it, Mom. He is fine, and thank goodness he is up to date on his shots! Some of you might remember a couple of years ago when he stepped on a hot piece of iron that was just cut with the torch, barefoot. He is a pretty tough cookie, but I still feel guilty when he gets hurt. I feel like I should make him stay in the yard, and take out all the things that could possibly injure him. But he would resent me for doing that, he likes watching them work on things and he takes so much in. ?????? Life is always full of second guesses, isn't it? I phoned the drs office to make sure that I didn't need to bring him in and they said no, just clean it and watch for signs of infection.

We went to the annual FFA pie auction last Friday night and had such a good time. Last year Marvin wasn't into it, but this year he really got into it and he bid on a couple of things. People laugh because some of the award winners bring $$$$, the last two pies sold for $1,000, and $1,500. Not too shabby. Its fun to watch people interact and enjoy themselves. Alot of times people go in together and bid a pie up to a certain amount and then share the cost. Its really not because we just want a pie, its to raise money for the FFA kids and scholarship fund. They can send several kids to our local Community Collage for what they raise every year, and that is the best investment I have ever heard about.

Well its already time to take off for another meeting at the school. I have been spending more time there lately than at home.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!!!!! Donnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17986549643619750862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2757927.post-105414052002-03-08T16:08:00.000-08:002002-03-08T16:08:35.453-08:00As I sit here typing, Ross is in the tub just talking and making all sorts of noises. Its so funny to listen. The wind is howling again today, we have had gusts of 45+mph. I am so glad that we had the metal roof put on the house! Donnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17986549643619750862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2757927.post-102813192002-03-01T15:27:00.000-08:002002-03-01T15:27:19.353-08:00I can sure ramble about things. I was just reading over what my previous post was and I can drift from one subject to another way too easily. haha

It is terrible here, the wind is howling outside. March truly is coming in like a lion, unfortunately it usually leaves that way too. March is usually the worst month here for wind, I hate it. My sinuses are driving me crazy.

I measured Ross yesterday at my mil's house. She had measured him on Oct 3rd last year and when I measured him yesterday he has grown 2" in that short time. I don't know what I am going to do with this child. He hasn't gained a pound, but has grown 2 inches! He is wearing a size 3 1/2 shoe and his size 8 pants are not quite to the top of his shoes anymore. He is prepared for a flood. Donnahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17986549643619750862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2757927.post-101599072002-02-26T14:50:00.000-08:002002-02-26T14:50:42.480-08:00Ah thanks Sindy! What a dear you are.

Not that anyone has been reading, because I haven't been blogging. Actually I am supposed to be working, I am out in the office. Shhhhhhh don't tell the big boss, he will fire me. Our office is a HUGE dust and grease collecter. Its an old building that we had moved out here and while they were moving it, it broke apart into two pieces. I never ever dreamed that they would be able to make any use out of it, but they did. It really serves our purpose well. It really was an old house that the Presbyterian Church used for visiting ministers and then it was used for Sunday school classes. The really neat thing is in one of the rooms, it has all these handprints and some footprints on some paneling and its nailed on the ceiling, it has a few names of kiddos who used to go to church there. The church came down and took down what panels they could. Hmmm I can sure get strayed from what I was talking about. We are trying to clean up because our loan officer is coming tomorrow to get information and copies of stuff for us to get our operating loan renewed for another year. We usually don't have any problems getting our loans, it is just alot of paperwork to fill out. It is nice to have a clean desk and office once in a while too.

On Sunday we were going to go for a drive and go down to the Guadalupe mountains for a picnic. It was such a beautiful day and we all really wanted to go. Well about 5 am that morning, Ross woke up and ran to the bathroom and threw up. I thought it was just a one time deal, nope, he threw up at least 16 times between 5 and 3 in the afternoon. Oh what fun that was. He was so upset that we didn't get to go to the mountains, poor little guy. I hope the weather is nice this next weekend and we can try to go then. I didn't let Ross go to school yesterday just because he didn't get to sleep like he should have the night before. He seemed to be feeling better, but I didn't want to chance it. So he was sitting in my lap when the phone rang and it was my sil calling to check on how he was feeling. He took the phone and told her he was feeling fine, and thanks for calling to check on him. He also told her that he liked it when she called to see how he was doing. She said he made her teary, and thats something because she isn't the type of person to just get teary.

Our crazy dog is outside barking her fool head off at a piece of colored plastic that the wind blew into the tree yesterday. She is such a funny pup, she runs around and around chasing the leaves that blow. I can see her out of the corner of my eye sometimes when I am in the kitchen go flying by and she is chasing the leaves. I am a bit disappointed because she is a small border collie. She has already stopped growing. Thats ok I guess, its just that Bandit was a fairly good sized dog. Sometimes we will be driving in Marvin's pickup and Ross will pickup Bandits collar and hold it. He will say I still remember you Bandit, you are in my heart. Brings a tear to my eye every time. I am the type of person who gets teary. haha
